Jam Chart for Mexico (79 entries)

Date Song City Timing Notes
2016-01-15 Sand Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:12 Strong peaking action in the first jam and then some growly, staccato funk in the second segment, which ultimately -> into "Ghost" stupendously.
2016-01-16 Cities Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 13:18 After a stretch of perfunctory versions, "Cities" has now gone four for its last four. A laid back tropical vibe yields to a stormy, foreboding jam, before the sun peeks through the clouds and the -> Light grows brighter.
2016-01-16 Hood Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 14:18 The early part of the jam includes great interplay and soloing by Trey. The gradual, but deliberate and well executed peak reminds us that a strong but plain ol' "Harry" is pretty spectacular in his own right.
2016-01-17 Moma Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 8:30 One of the few recent renditions of "Moma" that (fittingly) sails to new seas. There's some especially spry, melodic playing in the opening segment that gives way to a punchy, funky jam led by the rhythm section (with Mike Meatballs) in support of Trey's adept use of his MuTron *and* Echoplex and Page's expert use of his clav. Unfinished and -> "Saw It Again."
2016-01-17 DwD Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 19:12 A very solid version in which the jam initially breaks away into some dark and low intensity playing. The mood brightens, then Page starts playing samples from "Shipwreck." After several minutes, the guys abandon ship, ending the jam on a high point with jubilant, celebratory playing.
2016-01-17 Roggae Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:36 Compared to the preceding two jam chart versions, this one reveals a third and new approach to "Roggae," as this one breaks into a swinging, blues-infused jam, accentuated by some guitar effects, but less than in Dick's '15. Strong Mike and Fish help bring this excellent version to a powerful peak.
2016-01-17 C&P Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:05 The initial jamming is less rocking than most, but what it lacks in intensity, it makes up for with more melodic variation and synced-up playing. The latter part of the jam takes on a genuinely chilling tone with "Shipwreck" quotes, eerie effects, and power drill all thrown into the mix, as if to accompany the arrival of a ghostly ship on the horizon. > to "Farmhouse".
2016-01-17 Slave Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 10:29 A great version in which the Page and Mike stick mostly to the primary beat, while Trey adds off-beat color. As the intensity builds, Trey jumps mostly to the primary beat, providing power and grace.
2017-01-13 Wolfman's Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:36 Although it follows a familiar trajectory, this strong version luxuriates in the funk, before flipping the switch and peaking in celebratory good form. Trey really brings it on quite nicely.
2017-01-13 Fuego Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 19:53 After settling into some quieter musing, the jam takes on a percussive sense, and proceeds to build to a Trey-led, rocking peak. Gradually settling down, the jam transitions to a strong "Caspian."
2017-01-13 Caspian Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:37 > from a superb "Fuego". Trey's trilling grows nasty and dissonant at times, and Page hops on the clavinet to help lead the band into a dark and low-key groove. Fish does some fine work throughout.
2017-01-13 Twist Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:53 Floating in on the waves of a powerful "Prince Caspian" -> and staying in G, the echoing "Twist" intro leads to a tropical and topical "Tequila" jam before sliding seamlessly into "Seven Below."
2017-01-13 Seven Below Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:17 Awesome, melodic play from Trey, and we're only 2:40 in. The jam continues to impress, with Trey in total control, his precise, cerebral work matched by Mike, who also takes some seriously strong runs. Fish, of course, is great. There's super synth from Page. And Trey (7:00) introduces an incredibly cool theme, which the band shapes to its seemingly logical conclusion, ending a dulcet "suite" before > for "Golgi Apparatus."
2017-01-14 CDT Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:49 Super first set closer, which, in no small measure, soaks up the spirit of "IT's" (8/3/2003) rhythmic, pulsing soul. Breaking from "CDT" around 5:20, the jam melts into a focused passage of metrical rhythm, before brightening considerably, with all four musicians contributing equally. Trey's spirited solo, rich with sustain and effect, is complimented by great play from Page, before the version returns to "CDT" proper.
2017-01-14 Meatstick Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:34 This version's outro is much more musically productive than the typical and includes a "C&P" tease from Trey.
2017-01-14 Winterqueen Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 10:14 The "Prince of Music" neglects a verse but shrugs the flub and sets forth to shape one of the finest versions to date. The jam quickly assumes a quiet, delicate form, informed by great play from Mike. Trey's playing is patient and melodic, colored by customarily great fills from Page. The version skips along atop Fish's steady beat, with Trey building intensity via means of measured sustain and perfectly-placed notes, before working the surrounding space to a resounding peak.
2017-01-14 Mercury Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:15 After a strong composed section, the band crosses the bridge confident and assured, entering a jam anchored by great play from Mike and Fish. Trey adds much by way of layered texture and nuanced grace, before straight-forward soloing, colored with great fills from Page, builds into a passage of percussive and echo-altered sound. A cool > introduces yet another white-hot "Light."
2017-01-14 Light Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:41 The typical "Light" jam takes goes mildly dissonant, before shifting to some funk/rock action. This percussive section, with excellent playing led by Fish and Page, moves further and further away from "Light" proper, before eventually settling into a solid cool-down jam in the final few minutes.
2019-02-21 I Always Wanted It This Way Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 20:22 Around 8:30, the music begins to peel away from the typical play, settling into pulsing, low-key groove. Page and Trey add color, giving the playing a warmer, upbeat sentiment, which gradually builds to a blissful peak. The playing settles back down to a funky, crunchy groove after 16:45, before further settling into transition space.
2019-02-21 2001 Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 13:04 Gets the party going with some "Death Don't Hurt Very Long" teases, then as the jam continues the bottom drops out and Trey and Page whip up a dark ambient space. Fish comes back in and they go into the "chorus", only with the dark ambient space mixed in. A very unique experience. This ain't your average 3.0 "Also Sprach Zarathustra".
2019-02-22 Tube Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 8:59 A quality jam with an uncommonly subdued tone seems to momentarily wind down at 5:15 before launching into another round of synth-groove and builds to a rocking finale capped by strong Trey leads.
2019-02-22 Set Your Soul Free Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 25:53 Massive Set 2 opener. Pivots into a gritty and nasty jam at Mike's urging, which gets very heavy (and a tad flubby) as Trey takes control. A gnarled groove emerges, with Page laying on the electric piano extra thick, and then Trey pivots into major-key territory. The jam grows warm and pleasant as Mike moves into the lead, Page throwing in a carnivalesque ambiance, then Trey starts firing off some crunchy solos and we enter the wonderful land of hard rocking. A few "woos" are goosed, then Page hits on some ascending not unlike "Tweezer Reprise" and the jam peaks in wonderful fashion. > into an equally outstanding "Mercury".
2019-02-22 Mercury Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico 22:05 Great Version. > from a huge "SYSF," play breaks free around 10:00, Trey's tone warm, rife with melody, floating atop waves of Page's now signature keys. With a series of licks Trey pushes play forward, the jam builds in energy, before a huge blast of sustain peels apart (with Page now on his piano) into one of "Mercury's" finer moments. Play rocks, with the band alighting upon a sudden, and infectious groove. Pretty cool. > "Slave."
2020-02-20 Free Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 8:15 Builds on Free's recent uptick (12/28/19) in a big way with extra attention being given to the usual funky jam section (watch out for Mike's thumping bass) and then > into the always-welcome "Shipwreck".
2020-02-20 Shipwreck Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 3:12 "Shipwreck" emerges in the middle of a strong "Free" and serves as a refreshing contrast to the usual jam format.
2020-02-20 Free Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 2:59 -> from "Shipwreck" as "Free" creeps back in and concludes a great segment with "Rescue Squad" quotes thrown in for good measure.
2020-02-20 Beneath a Sea of Stars Part 1 Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 13:09 Drifts out of the usual jam into a stark minor key jam at Mike's urging, builds up a thick synth-laden ambient fog like it's 1999 all over again, and then gently returns to the main theme. A good omen for the future of "Beneath a Sea of Stars Part 1"'s improvisational future.
2020-02-21 Gin Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 16:16 An early key change signals this won't be a typical rendition, and the jam takes on a relaxed pace providing lots of room for an easy-going groove to unfold. After 10:30 the momentum picks up with some rapidly repeating delays from Trey and gets heavier from there until -> "Shafty".
2020-02-21 Shafty Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 1:52 Trey works "Shafty" into the height of "Gin's" jam for a quick run-through before -> back to "Gin".
2020-02-21 Gin Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 0:55 -> from "Shafty" to wrap up with "Gin's" closing riff.
2020-02-21 Blaze On Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:35 Trey pivots the band into a major key jam as warm as the Mexico waters, layering on the effects to really add ambiance. Page's synths take center stage and help bring some weirdness into the proceedings, with Mike going to the envelope filter and Fish neatly holding down the form. The jam gets darker and nastier as Mike takes center stage, then gently winds down before Page starts up "Sea and Sand". A very strong first set version.
2020-02-21 2001 Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:15 > from "Sigma Oasis." Another year in Mexico features another huge "2001." Mercifully, only one round of "Woos" are heard before the band breaks into a funky-as-hell "Another One Bites The Dust" jam. > to "Drift While You're Sleeping."
2020-02-21 Weekapaug Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 10:59 After some nice "NMINML" vocal quoting, the jam takes on a relaxed, more groovy vibe than the typical high energy "Weekapaug." At 7:00, the jam breaks just beyond the norm, exploring some percussive, rocking terrain before veering, unfinished, into "Shafty."
2020-02-22 Tube Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:58 Save for a few moments, Fish's drumming mostly stays close to the "Tube" structure throughout, but the jam around him changes quite a bit. Trey's play is impressive, ranging from spirited to contemplative, never landing on one theme for too long. Many "Tube" jams are compact and keep one theme; this version is wide-ranging and vast.
2020-02-22 Manteca Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:24 > from "Tweezer" and serving as the second portion of the "Tweezer" jam. This is a fun, upbeat, full-band jam. > into a "You Sexy Thing" version of "Makisupa Policeman."
2020-02-22 Waves Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 19:23 The first section recedes quietly without a return to the lyrics before the jamming begins anew in minor and works through a few different variations with Fish's ever persistent drumming keeping things moving at a brisk pace. A closing theme begins building around 15 minutes and leads to an encouraging group peak with looped guitar riffs and "Soul Planet" quotes included, and a final reset briefly hints at a new direction before jumping ship > "Carini".
2020-02-22 Carini Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 13:11 > from a huge "Waves." The jam stays in familiar, dark territory until the 8:00 minute mark where Trey begins to branch out and the rest of the band follows suit. What ensues is an effect-laden, swirling, full-band jam, which eventually melts into > "Chalk Dust Torture."
2020-02-23 Everything's Right Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 18:05 Towards the beginning of the jam, Trey sustains a note, which Page takes as a cue to introduce soaring harmonic counterpoint, including a hint to a major mode shift; this wrangles back to the "Everything's Right" theme. 11:30 sees Trey and Mike introduce a new chord vamp, and this yields a patient and smooth segue into major key bliss jamming by 13:45. Page builds with Fish's, and Trey goes whale call while building off of Mike's harmonic counterpoint. A pleasant feedback- and piano-dominated peak builds, climaxes, morphs, and finally reaches a graceful conclusion at 17:45.
2020-02-23 Bowie Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 13:45 Although the composed section is a bit rough, the jam opens up much more than most recent versions. Moving into major mode around 5:45, the jam then modulates back and forth several times, adding texture. With some nice Page/Trey interplay, Fish and Mike keep the rhythm at a good clip with building intensity. Nice to see this oldie get some love!
2020-02-23 Simple Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:31 Departs "Simple" with an "Under Pressure" tease and smoothly coasts through multiple short-lived grooves before another tease ("In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida") sets the table for the final climb.
2020-02-23 Golden Age Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 17:47 The second half of a deadly 1-2 punch with "Simple". Immediately moves into a bouncing calypso-y shuffle as Fish takes point and Page goes to work on the clavinet. The jam settles down and gets more funky as Fish taps away on his woodblock, Trey in particular laying down some thick nastiness. They then move into soaring anthemic territory, then as the jam dies away a darker and more unsettling mood takes over thanks to Page's synths and Trey's effects. Trey utilizes a guitar line very similar to Chest Fever to fine effect, much as he did in the 8/3/18 "Carini". Tremendous version.
2020-02-23 BOTT Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 7:32 -> from "Undermind." The end of the song proper features a heavy dosage of"Simple" teases which give way to some stellar, driving play from Fish. The upbeat jam takes an ambient turn, featuring some growling effects by Trey and eventually > into "Passing Through."
2022-02-24 Funky Bitch Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 7:57 Improvisational from its first measure, this atypical version keeps to "type I" jamming but is infused with a - seemingly contradictory - tight yet loose spirit, a vibrantly vivacious vibe.
2022-02-24 Tweezer Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 21:35 It's no wonder that a version that explores a variety of fantastic universes includes soaring improv heavily teasing "Lizards" for a spell.
2022-02-25 Halley's Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 14:25 Page shining through before song proper is even over with extra effects and punchy playing. the laid back jam slowly decreases in tempo and is replete with nifty licks from Trey and neat synth work by Trey. It eventually dissolves into a segue so smooth you won't see it coming -> "S.A.N.T.O.S."
2022-02-25 DwD Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 25:01 After a pretty intense run-through of a typical "Disease" jam, the play downshifts around 9:30, showcasing subtle band interplay and dynamics shifts, ultimately finding a closing theme in the latter stages and > "BDTNL".
2022-02-25 Carini Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 20:00 This full-band jam takes a couple different turns before a dream-like last five minutes featuring some delicate, ethereal play. Interplay between Trey and Page on the piano takes center stage before the jam comes to a growling end.
2022-02-25 ASIHTOS Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:55 Capping a strong set, this historic version, the first "ASITHOS" to close a show, works well in this important role. Dark, swirling, and effects-laden jamming, wholly dominated by Trey, builds to a series of powerful peaks, Page's accents sublime, the play bright-white, Slave-Like and running, running, and running, leaving all feeling good.
2022-02-26 Twist Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 13:06 Pivots smoothly into a nice warm Page-driven upbeat jam, with some really lovely trilling from Trey, then picks up the pace at Fish's urging and hits an anthemic zone before a surprising -> into a very good "Your Pet Cat".
2022-02-26 Your Pet Cat Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:38 -> out of "Twist". Continuing "YPC"'s unexpected run as a jam vehicle, this baby turns into a real Page synthesizer showcase, briefly delving into The Weirdness before Trey's solos bring us back to "YPC" proper.
2022-02-26 Wolfman's Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 22:43 Like a cross between a breeze and the space between stars, the jam, a smooth and total sound, breaks free all but immediately and becomes a true show-stopper. Trey, atop Fish's scattershot (off)beat, both creates and occupies space - it feels like it, but he never stops playing - the resulting improv remarkable in its restraint, notable for its ingenuity, and startlingly refreshing. Terrific play from all four creates a sound (driven space, as opposed to ambience; give "ER" a spin, for instance) that will likely stand out from this excellent run. A bit by way of customary play dissolves as the band > for "Cavern."
2022-02-26 Set Your Soul Free Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 21:35 Massive version features a jam that sounds an awful lot like "Under Pressure." As the jam moves along, all the toys get brought out and effects are used aplenty. Fish remains the backbone, as soundscapes are explored. > into a bluesy, must-hear "Simple."
2022-02-26 Simple Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:57 At 7:30 a sweet, easy-going bluesy groove takes hold (think "Spooky") and brings the jam to a close -> "SaSS". Not a style often seen, but wonderfully employed here.
2022-02-26 Scents and Subtle Sounds Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 16:59 A sneaky -> into the intro out of a really good "Simple". Trey guns the engines and starts cranking out some filth as Fishman goes absolutely ham behind him, and the band hits a pretty good peak, then Trey switches to chords and they enter "Manteca"-adjacent territory. The improv grows darker-tinged and more late-night energy, but Fish never relents in his percussive assault, giving the jam's second half a real interesting flavor. Damn good stuff, sir.
2022-02-26 C&P Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 14:31 > from "SaSS." Swinging jam with Fish keeping the tempo up throughout. Setting must be accounted for as this seems like the perfect jam for an evening on the beach. It eventually segues quite nicely -> "Waste."
2022-02-27 46 Days Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 12:35 Almost immediately pivots into a spacious and warm groove, thanks to Trey and Page melding nicely while Fish does some fancy rhythmic work and Mike holds down the fort. Pivots into something darker and harder at Trey's urging, then neatly resolves back into "46 Days".
2022-02-27 SOAMelt Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 18:10 No need for the band to clear their collective mind, for they have the modern Melt formula internalized. Mike's Floydian play controls much of this version's narrative, improvisation that, "illuminated" by Fish, pushes and probes to pass through a heart of musical darkness. Repeated listening is rewarding as all four musicians weave patterns of sound ,creating a complex tapestry that, despite this effort, is all but ineffable. Wonderfully, if not miraculously, Trey, his growly tone demented, picks his way through the shoreline's shoegaze sound, leading the band to "Melt's" closing refrain, before, of all things, "Suzy." Wild.
2022-02-27 Caspian Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:43 > from "ER's" excellent, groovy, outro, typically solid play ensues. Trey shifts completely, powering his way through an extended rock-n-roll solo, with the band banging and thrashing behind him. Welcome effects help to cool the incendiary play, the song, in set, a sort of fire-bridge, the band picking up where they left off when entering the psychedelic template that is "BASOS I."
2022-02-27 Beneath a Sea of Stars Part 1 Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:22 Proves once again to be a perfect match for the seaside environs with a jam that grows more spacious and then sucks the listener into a powerful maelstrom of synth waves, crashing percussion, and magnetic lead guitar.
2022-02-27 Golden Age Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 19:37 A non-stop rollicking groove delivered with an assured confidence, as Mike and Fish set a good pace and Page and Trey fill in all the gaps with tasty detail, then takes a darker turn for the last few minutes before > "Lonely Trip".
2022-02-27 Hood Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 14:39 Like so many modern versions, this one deviates from the traditional structure but does so with great focus and direction in a suspenseful minor jam. Grows in power until 12 minutes when the band adroitly swerves back to good old "Hood" to conclude.
2023-02-23 BOTT Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 9:26 Trey focuses on rhytmic riffs at the outset and then picks up the pace of his leads, but instead of building to a full crescendo, the jam relaxes into a warm current that recedes into -> "MFMF".
2023-02-23 Blaze On Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 17:13 Early near-MLB riffing moves into a textured synth romp, after which the feel-good vibes are in full effect as a celebratory jam perfect for dancing on the beach carries through to > "Twist".
2023-02-24 Stash Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:42 Terrific Phish. Yes, the old-school "Stash" formula continues to melt, but the band, while eschewing tension and release, doesn't break for "major," or "bliss" jamming; instead, driven by Fish, the friends quickly enter an extended passage of full-band improvisation - a jam (given there are two) better left playing than reading someone labor to describe. Or, if you like: It's as if current runs at "Melt" and "Stash" produce a love child. All this and the band doesn't veer so far that "Stash," as song, becomes unrecognizable. Amazing.
2023-02-24 SOAMelt Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 16:16 A version that takes its cues from the terrain of the Yucatan, dives into sonar laden depths and emerges through sunken caves to march up erupting volcanic peaks. A journey from the sublime to the menacing, "Melt" continues to offer some of the band's most forward looking improvisation.
2023-02-24 Waves Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:13 Fish sets the tone early with some stellar play that shines through. As the jam breaks from the song proper, a dark, subdued tone accompanies a slower tempo. Music served better for a mystery than on the beach. The tempo gradually rises again and the jam builds to a frenetic, heavy-effects peak-adjacent. > "Ruby Waves" setting the stage for the first ever pairing of the two Waves tunes.
2023-02-24 Ruby Waves Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 19:24 Veritable monster of a version. The band enthusiastically sets up a passage of dense, funky psychedelia off the back of Fish's propulsive engine. Inspiring play follows as Trey, Mike and Page all shine with affected tones and loops. Without ever dipping in energy, the band then patiently builds to a seriously rocking peak section before returning to the main theme of "Ruby Waves."
2023-02-24 CDT Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:39 This short powerhouse immediately leaves "CDT" behind for dark and choppy waters, surging ahead until 6:35 when it blurs the line between melancholy and ecstasy in brilliant fashion. More impassioned bliss follows, and then the jam slowly dissipates over the closing minutes and > "Gin".
2023-02-24 Gin Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 16:44 > from a barnburner "CDT". Everything one would expect from a set-closing Gin. No lulls or slow tempo, just upbeat and fun the whole way through. Around the 12 minute mark, Mike comes barreling in to push the jam to another level as he takes the lead. Things eventually lead to the set-closing peak that doesn't disappoint.
2023-02-25 DwD Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 24:42 Several key modulations and tempo changes adorn this wild improvisational ride, which also features some curiously melodic synth work from Page at times. Put on the headphones, close your eyes, lie down and listen to this imagining yourself lying on a sandy beach beside cascading soothing waves admiring and exploring the clear ever-expanding starry universe.
2024-02-22 BOAF Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 19:40 Even before the ten minute mark, the jam has already produced a big, hosy peak drenched in sheets of fluid trills, but what follows is an adventurous outro featuring wild space and tense, thematic exploration that defies conventional notions of "type", builds in rhythmic intensity, and finally climaxes with a satisfying return and attack.
2024-02-22 Axilla (Part II) Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:10 After the initial onset of the typical outro jam, the music begins to gradually descend toward the depths with Trey's delay-drenched whammy sirens and Fishman’s samples setting up a dense soundscape. The form then fractures, dissipates and melts down into a dark, hypnagogic ambient goo before vanishing from whence it came.
2024-02-22 ASIHTOS Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 16:49 Opening a second set for the first time since the 2017 Mexico shows, this "ASIHTOS" features a swirling, grimy intro that indicates the band may be ready to deliver the goods. The jam begins as a laid-back affair, an apt soundtrack for oceanside listening. The tempo picks up gradually; Trey's riffing and Page's play stand out. The jam slowly dissolves and > into a huge, must-hear "Wave of Hope."
2024-02-22 A Wave of Hope Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 35:01 This tidal "Wave of Hope" raises the bar for one of the era's most consistent jam vehicles with a free-flowing marathon of improvisation. The opening 10 minutes are worthy in their own right, but the signature moment comes at 14:25 when the band in unison dives into deep-sea exploration of hard-edged rock. Relentlessly forging ahead with siren synths and wailing guitar over thunderous percussion and bass, the intensity remains at a fever pitch until the soothing exhale begins at 26:00, ushering the jam back to shore after the abyssal proceedings and > "Oblivion".
2024-02-23 KDF Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 11:58 > from "46 Days." The continued renaissance of jammed out versions of "KDF" gets another entry with a fun, effects-laden jaunt. Fish's play shines through as a driving force. The jam culminates in a maelstrom of sounds, before eventually > "Wading."
2024-02-23 CDT Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 39:54 The pull of lunar gravity seems to propel this massively improvisational odyssey that draws from the full ocean of Phish's current array of tones and effects. Embracing a wide berth of improvisational moods from the familiar and serene to the anxious and alien, this truly titanic jam flirts with jagged edges and plumbs the bubbling depths but stays afloat atop the ebb and flow of its multiple movements and eventually finds safe port > "Beneath a Sea of Stars pt. 1".
2024-02-24 Simple Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 17:34 This show-opener allows the band to stretch their jamming legs with a version that fluidly transitions beyond typical "Simple" and finds a spunky, synth-backed groove over which Trey riffs thematically before a final turn towards bliss and then -> "Sanity".
2024-02-24 Wolfman's Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 15:17 The band basks in the setting of playing on the beach by providing an apt soundtrack. The jam is calm and chill for a while, until it builds and builds into a mini-peak of energy highlighted by some sparkling play from Page on the piano. Trey then finds his way back home to the song proper for the coda.
2024-02-24 Gin Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico 20:50 A fairly rocking "Gin" splits around 9:00 for some densely-textured, high-quality "Type II" exploration with synths at the forefront and a stormy, probing sense, and then subtly brightens and takes on a more hopeful tone down the homestretch.
Jam chart versions are selected because of improvisational and other characteristics that distinguish these from typical versions of the song.
The jam chart team has highlighted some versions with a yellow background; these are the versions the team believes to be especially improvisational, or otherwise notable.
